Reducing Project Down Time, Unplanned Losses And Tackling Projects Complexity With Digital Engineering
This year’s Digital Engineering and Design Summit took place in Sydney between the 15th and 16th of October. I was invited to speak about “Using BIM / Digital Engineering to de-risk and improve the entire Project Lifecycle Management”. I was also part of a panel discussion with Jacyl Shaw (GHD), Simon Vaux (Transport for NSW), and Catherine Pepper (GHD) on “Overcoming Interoperability, Legacy Issues, System Integration & Common Data Set Challenges in Digital Engineering”.
The panel came to the conclusion that human centred approaches are needed and a sense of urgency backed by collaboration across multiple organisations including universities is key to enabling innovation and overcoming challenges. Although it is sometimes challenging to talk about failures, professionals need to do that so they can learn – because the future of Digital Engineering is bright!
